Anca Marta Leoveanu is a quality assurance manager at AT&T. She oversees critical technologies for mobile telephone services and her career accomplishments include enhancing test frameworks that drive efficiencies in data insights and testing processes.

Anca applies business analytics and SQL skills to automate production builds. Using these automation improvements, her team went from 80 hours to a four-hour delivery time for one release. With this improvement, they are able to bring new features to market faster and deliver new technology.

"I am excited to be on the AT&T team as it leads the way with 5G," Anca said recently, adding that she feels blessed with the strong support of her team, by the opportunity to grow, and "to take my heart in my teeth: A-ți lua inima în dinți."

Anca is originally from Bucharest, Romania. Her parents were schoolteachers. But when she was seven years old, her father refused to join the communist party so the authoritarian regime took away their home and car.

As a result, her father had a mental health breakdown and battled addiction, which took a toll on his family. Watching her mother cope instilled in Anca the meaning of courage. Or as the Romanian parable goes: take your heart in your teeth.

In high school, Anca was accepted into the math and physics program. By 2001, she had earned a master’s degree in engineering from Transylvania University while working various jobs to help support herself and her family.

She met her future husband while working as a new college grad at Nestle. When the company decided to send him to Silicon Valley the couple was excited to come to America. Unfortunately, Anca's happiness was short-lived.

Thanks to domestic violence support resources in California, Anca found a place in a local women's shelter. She also landed a job in a department store.

In March of 2010, a mobile software company hired Anca as a member of their technical staff. She worked with major mobile manufacturers, helping to deploy software in over 10 million devices. In 2015, AT&T acquired the firm and Anca joined the large telecommunications company.

"Here, I deliver software integration solutions to more than 50 million devices," Anca said. "Based on our data quality, unique end-to-end data from mobile AT&T has provided big improvements for data transmission, low data transfer latencies, and network performance."

Successful software integration brings AT&T accurate coverage diagnostics, and fast repairs in the area needed in identifying emergencies.

Anca has received individual performance recognition for her exceptional technical and leadership accomplishments that have helped drive customer satisfaction, deliver data products, and add value to products and services.

"I feel confident about my place in the world and at work," Anca says. "And I am motivated to help support and mentor others in my church and work community who are following in my footsteps to America. I am blessed with my grandmother and mother’s faith and strength, which helps guide me every day."

Anca also continues to develop her skills through technical knowledge tracks, increasing her contribution and value to AT&T.
