Jianmei Chai won a Special Recognition Award for excellence in information and cybersecurity at the Women of Color STEM Conference.

A 15-year employee of Consumers Energy's Information Security (Infosec) team, Jianmei was honored in the Rising Star category for technology leadership.

"I feel honored being recognized for the work I do and very fortunate to be part of a great team. Each team member has helped me tremendously as we work through each project and task together," Jianmei said on a company community webpage.

"There is great potential in the STEM fields," Jianmei added. "Through innovation and engineering development, your work can provide benefits not only to your future company and customers but also to many other areas and people that are close and far away."

Consumers Energy relies on developers, integrators, and analysts to make sure employees are technologically equipped to serve customers throughout Michigan. This companywide exposure puts them on the front line of innovation across multiple projects and platforms, the company says on its website.
