Dr. Leslie Leonard is one of more than 50,000 scientists and engineers who work to solve complex defense challenges.
She is a computer scientist at the U.S. Army Engineer Research & Development Center (ERDC).
The ERDC is a laboratory organization that provides expertise in engineering and environmental sciences in support of the U.S. military and the nation.
Currently, Leonard is a program manager for the Department of Defense High-Performance Computing Modernization Program, which has been in operation for more than 25 years.
She provides insight to advance high-performance computing by identifying challenges in research, cybersecurity, supercomputer applications, and cloud applications.
Leonard earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland.
She also holds a master’s and bachelor’s degree in computer science from Jackson State University. According to Computer Science dot org, women only earn 18% of computer science bachelor’s degrees in the United States.
