Since earning a bachelor's degree in information sciences and systems from Morgan State University, Akilah D. Crowner has worked as a computer programmer, system analyst, system designer, information manager, and system integrator.
In 2018, she joined General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT). Currently, Akilah serves as information technology (IT) service management systems engineer manager of the Navy Enterprise Service Desk for the Navy and Marine Corps business area. Akilah oversees data integration for the cloud-based service desk utilizing commercial IT service management principles, omnichannel telephony, and artificial intelligence (AI).
Prior to working on the Navy Enterprise Service Desk program, Akilah was a senior developer for the Defense Information Systems Agency at Fort Meade, where she led several projects to design, develop, test, and implement system changes and data integration.
She has also held technical lead/senior developer positions for Acuity, Inc. and at the U.S. Department of State. In 2011, Akilah was the lead engineer for a team that led consolidation efforts for the Base Realignment and Closure Act (BRAC) for the Department of Defense at Defense Media Activity at Fort Meade.
Akilah was also a major contributor to the consolidation of the Naval Media Center, Army Broadcasting, and Air Force News into one service desk. She has held positions at the U.S. Census Bureau, Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Social Security Administration, and Joint Strike Fighter. In addition, she worked on a commercial project for the Children's National Hospital.
Akilah is a BMC Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Professional, and possesses A+ and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) professional certifications.
