Recently, Analytics India Magazine (AIM) announced the winners of its Women in AI Leadership Awards. According to the publication, which "chronicles technological progress in analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), data science, and big data" the selection panel is made up of senior executives in the data science and analytics industry.
AIM's Women in AI Leadership Awards celebrate "leaders who have put a dent in the universe with their game-changing work in artificial intelligence (AI) and data science."
The 2022 winners include a 21-year government information technology (IT) executive who initiated the development of an AI-based project for a key regulator of the power sector in India; and a systems software professional, with 26 years of industry experience, who developed algorithms for a Fortune-50 company and filed four patents in the United States Patent and Trademark Office along with her team.
There is also a vice president of analytics, who was named one of the top 50 women scientists in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields by the Confederation of Indian Industry, a 9,000-member organization with an indirect membership of 300,000 enterprises from 294 national and regional sectoral industry bodies.
Other professionals on the list of winners include a research manager and senior technical staff member at IBM Research India. She works to develop and drive data science and machine learning (ML) innovations for optimizing information technology (IT) operations for various IBM offerings and engagements.
In 2004, IBM Corporation's Asha Goyal won the Women of Color Technologist of the Year Award for leading the quality team at its global services India division to become the first IBM unit to achieve recognition as a Software Engineering Institute Capability Maturity Model Level 5 organization.
A 2022 award-winning practice leader builds and deploys AI and machine learning (ML) at scale for global clients; one management consultant leads teams across the United States, European Union, and the Asia Pacific; and there is an executive from a firm recognized as "Bank of the Year-Asia" by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a sister organization of the World Bank and member of the World Bank Group.
A mid-career professional at American Express was recognized for striving to make data-driven credit decisions by strengthening decision science models and innovating in underwriting. Another exec, who currently leads a team of 100 data scientists/ analysts also made the list, as did a senior data scientist at Walmart Global Tech, India, who is also leading a team of data scientists.
According to AIM, her work specializes in building engines in the Grocery domain, which substitute out-of-stock items during order fulfillment. She has also worked on click prediction for advertisements. Before joining Walmart, she worked at Oracle Corporation and Yahoo Inc.
Another winner has created a center of excellence for a data-enabled decision-making culture, while one executive enables a 250-member team to combine digital analytics with AI and visualization to understand the pain points of stakeholders, translate their problems into solutions, and interpret the business impact while harnessing the power of emerging technologies.
