Maria Elena Herrera is a Civil Engineer at Leidos (formerly known as SAIC).
She has more than 7 years of professional experience in performing Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure Plans, Facility Response Plans, and Oil and Hazardous Substance Spill Prevention and Response Plans.
In addition, she has vast experience performing Hydrology and Hydraulics computer models. Also, she has significant experience managing construction projects. Herrera currently holds a top secret clearance and has received 2 letters of recommendation from Department of Defense personnel recently.
She has worked as a field engineer in construction and supervised crews of up to 25 workers. As a field engineer, she gained valuable experience in many areas, including steel construction, pre-cast installation, fireproofing material application for steel structures, welding and providing instructions to crane operators.
She earned a civil engineering degree at the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico in 2006. Herrera is a member of the Society of Women Engineers and an associate member of Colegio de Ingenieros y Agrimensores de Puerto Rico.
