Cesanee Johnson won a Community Service Award at the 2022 WOC STEM Conference held earlier this month. She is a Raytheon Technologies executive. Currently, she is the program manager and business operations lead for the Naval Air Missiles mission area.
Johnson has had a “heart for service” since high school. At 26, she became a mentor with Atlanta’s Big Brother/Big Sister program. She’s logged over 1,000 hours with Chicago Urban League’s Metropolitan Board and co-chartered a National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Jr. chapter.
Johnson also participates in community service projects with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and Jack and Jill of America, Inc.
While leading Raytheon’s Black Excellence Network employee resource group (ERG), Johnson co-created a mentor circle, connecting employees with executive leaders across Raytheon and strengthening community partnerships within the employee resource group. Johnson is the community partnership lead for Raytheon Technologies Global Black/African American ERG Board.
She also volunteers with The Links, Inc., a service organization for professional women who work to enrich lives in the Black community. She was recently named community partnership lead and recognized for her passion for service and inspiring everyone.
"From a very young age, I wanted to be an engineer so that I could design, invent, and create," she said in her acceptance speech." I also watched my mother lead community-based, non-profit organizations with great passion. And I often served alongside her. My great-grandmother donated part of her land to start a 4-H club to teach literacy and home economic skills. The strong women in my family created an inspiring legacy."
She is focused on fostering the next generation of leaders in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and has spearheaded STEM initiatives in the community.
