The annual Women of Color (WOC) STEM Conference is a wonderful event that honors and recognizes the rich culture and heritage of the Asian American Pacific Islander community.
Sophia Shiue, a business process manager at FCA US LLC, was recognized at the WOC STEM Conference in 2016. She received honors for her patent on a virtual vehicle system that manages business processes using engineering part design represented virtually in a graphics bill of material application.
Sophia also played a significant role in implementing a product configurator application, which allowed Fiat and Chrysler to work on standard global vehicle configurations.
As a result of her work, the graphics bill of materials system produced manufacturing and product illustrations that resulted in a 42% reduction in the graphic creation process.
Additionally, she created a Mopar service handbook that was awarded the J.D. Power ranking of second-best in the industry. The Women of Color Conference acknowledges the achievements of women in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
Marlin Page, head of diversity and inclusion at FCA US LLC, stated that they are proud of their female employees who continue to be recognized for their technical accomplishments and leadership.
Sophia received the Outstanding Technical Contribution Award, which is given to mid-career professionals with significant technical accomplishments in an engineering, technology industry, or government agency. The award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated excellence in the workplace and their communities. Click here to register for the Women of Color STEM Conference.
