Connie Caldwell is a meteorological technician trainer who works with the 15th Operational Weather Squadron at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois.
Connie has mentored and trained many Airmen, covering topics such as meteorology, weather briefings, volcanic ash forecasting, and critical support services for the National Weather Service.
Connie's exceptional contributions to science and education earned her the "Weather Civilian of the Year" award in 2022.
With 24 years of military experience, including 11 years as a Department of Defense civilian employee, Connie has demonstrated unwavering commitment to national defense and STEM education.
Connie is responsible for tracking the annual training requirements of the 155 employees currently under her purview.
She has served as an alternate unit training manager, overseeing an impressive 97% training completion rate, exceeding the standards of her parent unit.
Connie provides customized courses for shift workers, which have helped to exceed Department of Defense training compliance rates.
Connie is also an active volunteer, regularly giving her time to help. She has participated in activities such as distributing food at the annual "Fall Festival" and has raised over $12,000 for military families in need through Operation Warm Heart.
