LaWanda Burrell was the vice president of global advertising at Electronic Data Systems when she received the Career Achievement Award at the 2001 Women of Color STEM Conference.
She played a crucial role in the EDS corporate advertising department as a founding member, and her group was in charge of all EDS advertising worldwide.
Burrell is recognized for her remarkable leadership in implementing global initiatives, providing her clients with a "can-do" attitude, and serving as a coach/mentor.
She was instrumental in several award-winning campaigns, including the famous "Cat Herders" commercial, which won a Lion at the Cannes Film Festival as the world's best business-to-business television commercial.
She was also involved in the widely acclaimed 1994 and 1998 World Cup global television campaigns and the customer "success story" campaign for EDS, which was named the best corporate advertising campaign at the 1997 European M&M awards.
