Lina M. Echeverria won the Women of Color Technologist of the Year award in 2006.
She retired in 2009 from her position as Corning's Vice President and Director of Exploratory Markets and Technologies, where she spent over two decades leading teams of scientists and researchers to develop innovative products such as ceramic filters, glasses for TV screens, and dinnerware.
Throughout her career, Echeverria created an environment that fostered creativity, productivity, and innovation.
She was known not only for her ability to lead and manage effectively but also for her skill in teaching those skills to other managers.
After retiring, Echeverria worked as an innovation leadership consultant and principal at Seven Passions of Innovation, LLC. She also collaborated with the American Management Association.
Echeverria was the first woman to graduate in engineering geology from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia at Medellín, a notable achievement that opened doors for other women in a rigorous engineering school.
She later earned a Ph.D. in geology from Stanford University.
