It's May, and Women of Color magazine online is celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Month by featuring the success stories of Women of Color STEM Award winners who honor their AAPI heritage and promote diversity.
Dr. Qian (Beth) Zou is well-known at the annual Women of Color STEM Conference, where she was a panelist for the Leaders & Legends discussion for several years.
She has served as an associate dean and professor at Oakland University, where she has worked for about two decades.
Originally from China, Dr. Zou earned her bachelor's, master's, and Ph.D. in precision instruments and technology at Tsinghua University in Beijing.
She joined Oakland University as a visiting instructor in 2002.
The Women of Color (WOC) STEM Conference recognizes outstanding women in the STEM fields and offers professional development, networking, and recruiting opportunities.
