In 2016, Sophia Shiue, a business process manager, was honored at the Women of Color STEM Conference, joining the ranks of other FCA US LLC employees.
Sophia received recognition for a patent she obtained for a virtual vehicle system that manages business processes using engineering part design represented virtually in a graphics bill of material application.
As the technical lead, Sophia led the implementation of a product configurator application, enabling Fiat and Chrysler to collaborate on standard global vehicle configurations. This initiative significantly streamlined the manufacturing process, reducing the graphic creation process by 42%.
Additionally, Sophia created a Mopar service handbook that was ranked second best in the industry by J.D. Power.
The Women of Color Awards celebrate some of the country's most promising and influential female business and community leaders.
Sophia was the recipient of the Outstanding Technical Contribution Award, which recognizes mid-career professionals with significant technical accomplishments in an engineering, technology industry, or government agency.
Award winners are accomplished professionals who have demonstrated excellence in their workplaces and communities.
