During the Midweek with WOC show on Wednesday, September 18, with host Marsha Jews, Kosi-Kupe expressed that her award at the 2023 WOC STEM DTX Conference brought a sense of affirmation.

Dr. Kosi-Kupe recently received the Women of Color STEM Educational Leadership – College-Level Promotion of Education Award.
During the WOC STEM DTX gala, Kosi-Kupe shared that she was drawn to college-level education as a means of empowerment through knowledge while growing up. Click here to view.
She is a dedicated advocate for education and is well-known for her work in the biology department at the University of Detroit-Mercy.
Kosi-Kupe is a lecturer with expertise in various fields including anatomy-physiology, microbiology, immunology-mycology-parasitology, nutrition, cell biology, and pathophysiology.
She has authored several publications and led numerous STEM-related research projects as the Principal Investigator.
Kosi-Kupe holds two U.S. Patents for her innovative contributions to nutrition science and the advancement of nutritional supplement.
She has devoted a significant amount of time to teaching and is an exceptional research leader.
One of her notable research projects is the "Comparative Efficacy of Mun root extracts on fibroid cells" in partnership with Bindley Bioscience Center/Purdue University.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Kosi-Kupe is committed to giving back to the community.
She has initiated four outreach projects to engage high school students of color from underserved communities, encouraging them to pursue STEM education at the college level.
Kosi-Kupe has also invited local high school students to campus for presentations in the Detroit Mercy cadaver lab, providing them with the opportunity to share their experiences with monitoring their nutrition.
One student leader mentioned that this opportunity allowed high school students to learn about food and college, inspiring them to attend university.
