Highlights from the WOC STEM Conference and the digital twin experience

Women of Color (WOC) magazine annually recognizes innovation in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through its WOC STEM Awards.
Career Communications Group, a leading advocate for workforce diversity, organizes the WOC STEM Conference, which has consistently focused on professional development, networking, and empowerment for nearly thirty years.
This year's conference theme, "Waves of Change, Oceans of Opportunity," explored the importance of embracing diverse perspectives and inclusivity to advance STEM fields.
The event gathered individuals from across the country to celebrate diversity, innovation, and the achievements of women in STEM.
It featured multiple award presentations, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, all honoring the remarkable contributions of women in these fields. The conference was accessible online via the WOC STEM DTX platform (www.wocstemdtx.com).
Whitney Gaskins, PhD, associate dean of inclusive excellence and community engagement in the University of Cincinnati College of Engineering and Applied Science, shared on LinkedIn her honor of presenting at the 29th annual WOC STEM Conference in Detroit.
In the accompanying photo, Dr. Gaskins stands next to Dr. Michelle L. Zbylut (center), an industrial-organizational psychologist and the current deputy assistant secretary of the Army.
Dr. Zbylut leads the U.S. Army Equity and Inclusion Agency, overseeing federal compliance with diversity, equity, and inclusion policies and programs.
She manages the execution of the Army's Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Civil Rights Program, including compliance and complaints adjudication processes.
Additionally, Tracey Walker, a chief culture diversity inclusion officer, is highlighted as an award-winning inclusion executive.
With extensive experience in the public sector, Her career spans public accounting, legislative affairs, and global advisory, showcasing her expertise in government transformation and performance.
During her time in Detroit, Dr. Gaskins spoke at the "Women Empowered to Change" seminar session. Also in attendance were members of the
the University of Cincinnati College of Engineering and Applied Science's chapter of the Association for Women of Color in Engineering.
Gaskins remarked, "These young women are incredible—driven, curious, and full of potential. I am grateful for the sense of community that gatherings like this create, as they foster connection and inspiration for the next generation of STEM leaders."
"This event is always special, and I'm grateful to continue supporting an organization that uplifts and empowers women of color in STEM," Gaskins expressed. "Last year, I had the privilege of receiving one of their national awards, making this year's return even more meaningful."
