Sheila Ray began her career at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in 2004 as an electrical engineer.
Sheila was recognized as a Special Recognition honoree at the 2019 Women of Color in STEM Conference for outstanding contributions to the NRC’s mission to protect America's public health, safety, and the environment by implementing licensing and oversight programs for nuclear power reactors.
Here's what the NRC said about her award on Facebook:
"Congratulations to Sheila Ray, a senior electrical engineer here at the #NRC. She recently earned a special recognition award at the 24th Women of Color STEM conference sponsored by Career Communications Group, Inc. Sheila handles complex licensing reviews of operating #nuclear power #reactors and reviews applications for the construction of new nuclear power reactors and small modular reactors. She was instrumental in developing design criteria for electrical systems for #AdvancedReactors, helping pave the way for future technologies and designs.
