Patricia L. Martin, a 2019 Women of Color in STEM award winner, was one of only five people to receive special recognition from NASA's STS-73 Crew for Outstanding Crew Training and mission support.
NASA's Space Transportation System (STS)-73 launched in the fall of 1995.
Ms. Martin brings years of experience in the design and development of space-based electro-optical systems for Earth remote sensing intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, overhead persistent infrared, and space exploration applications.
Before joining Raytheon, she developed space hardware for NASA’s United States Microgravity Laboratory. Currently, she is a senior manager in system engineering at the Hardware Engineering Center of Raytheon Space & Airborne Systems.
She has served as a member of the Raytheon Technical Council to promote collaboration. She is also a recognized infrared detector who has led successful research and development (R&D) programs. Martin has authored and co-authored papers on hyperspectral imaging for Raytheon’s Multi-function EO Systems Technology Network, for which she won “Best Paper,” and infrared focal plane array technology for military sensing symposium conferences on passive sensing and detector technology applications.
