"A record number of black women just graduated from West Point (again)," says the pinned tweet on Diversity & Inclusion Studies (@DISM_USMA), which reports on diversity clubs and the Dean’s Diversity Committee at West Point.
Since June 13, the post has been retweeted more than 2,600 times and garnered 9.300 likes.
According to @DISM_USMA, 38 African American females graduated with the Class of 2020, the most in the United States Military Academy's history.
Another tweet added that the number of black female graduates has been steadily increasing.
Last year, 34 black women graduated from West Point and there were 27 graduates in 2018. Seven years ago, only 13 black women graduated.
According to West Point's website, Diversity and Inclusion Studies expose cadets to varied perspectives and methodologies for understanding and studying the humanities. The course complements and enhances the core curriculum, academic majors, and several West Point Centers and committees, and helps fulfill the Superintendent’s and Dean’s vision for diversity and inclusion at West Point.
