Molly Mo manages Ford’s Engineering Learning and Development (EL&D) team, helping to upskill/reskill Ford’s engineering workforce, especially during rapid transformational times.
"Congratulations, Molly Mo!," Ford Motor Company posted on LinkedIn. "Molly was recognized with an Educational Leadership award at the 2022 Women of Color STEM Conference. As the global engineering learning and development manager, Molly embodies the spirit of lifelong learning. Her dedication to professional development and upskilling/reskilling our engineering workforce in a time of rapid transformation has helped colleagues thrive. Her passion for mentoring and support of DE&I efforts has built an even stronger culture of continuous learning at Ford."
Molly and her team manage annual nomination-based university partnership programs that offer master’s degree programs to Ford’s engineers, and she focuses on selecting women and minorities for these partnerships.
She sponsored a learning cohort encouraging women engineers to participate in Udacity learning programs, upskilling them in emerging technologies in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and software development fields.
Her team’s STEM/STEAM outreach initiatives invest a $63 million corporate fund in education-related programs, including Blue Oval STEM scholarships, Ford’s High School Science and Technology Program, FIRST Robotics, and the World Solar Car Challenge. Mo ensures that minority students are included in Blue Oval Scholarship applications.
In 2021, Mo connected the Detroit nonprofit Downtown Boxing Gym with 15 academically outstanding secondary school students to provide
them with after-school academic tutoring.
"As a first-generation Chinese American, I was instilled with values that celebrate hard work, education, family, and community," Molly said in her acceptance speech at the Women of Color STEM gala on October 8. "Those values reflect who I am today. My spirit for lifelong learning and passion for advancing learning creates a positive impact not only on myself but more importantly on others, helping them unleash their unlimited potential. I feel so honored for this recognition. I'm so grateful for my colleagues at Ford and my family who have always stood with me and supported me. Belief in ourselves and building talents in others is how women of color are going to break down barriers and empower each other to build a better future where anything is possible."
