Boeing Defense, Space & Security's President and CEO, Theodore (Ted) Colbert III, took to LinkedIn on Thursday to share the news of 73 Boeing employees who won various awards at the 28th annual Women of Color STEM Conference.
The category awards were presented at the Women of Color STEM Gala and the Technology Recognition Event. Both events, which were held in Detroit, celebrated the contributions of minority women in technology, business, and research sciences.
The Women of Color in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) awards are part of a prestigious employee recognition program managed by Career Communications Group - a minority-owned media services company founded to promote minority achievement in engineering, science, and technology.
In his LinkedIn post, Colbert named Kathleen Jolivette and Christina Upah, who were honored with the Career Achievement and Managerial Leadership awards, respectively.
He thanked both ladies for their leadership, dedication, and commitment to making a difference.
The Women of Color STEM Gala, where the awards for Jolivette and Upah were presented, was held on Saturday, October 14.
The event celebrated the often-unheralded contributions of minority women in STEM.
Earlier in the week, over 200 women in STEM received certificates of achievement as Technology Allstars and Rising Stars, including members of the Boeing team.
