Jianhua J. Chen is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional Enterprise Architect at Dominion Energy, Inc. She won a Special Recognition Award for excellence in information and cybersecurity at the 2017 Women of Color STEM Conference.
INSPIRATION: “Both my parents are engineers. I grew up watching [them] and their fellow engineers in a mechanical workshop and was fascinated by how machines work. I read books about computers but never had the privilege to lay my hands on one. I chose to major in computer science so that I could learn more about computers, and I never regretted my choice.”
CURRENT JOB: “I work with other Enterprise Architects in the development of IT strategy and to ensure consistency with all enterprise and business unit policies, standards, roadmaps, and best practices.”
BIGGEST INFLUENCE: “My supervisor and mentor at my first job in the U.S. have been the biggest influence in my career. He always says that it’s important to spend an hour each day learning something new, and I couldn’t agree more.”
GIVING BACK: “I’m a member of Virginia Cyber Security Partnership. I also participate in the local school PTA and support STEM programs.”
FAVORITE APP: “Dictionary—English is not my first language, and I find the dictionary app very handy.”
