Regina Goff had a successful career in the U.S. Air Force. In 2013, she was the head of the financial analysis department at Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command.
She was awarded the Professional Achievement in Government Award at the 18th annual Women of Color Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Conference in Dallas.
This award is given to experienced professionals who have made significant achievements in industry or government.
Goff was born into a military family, moved seven times, and attended three high schools in three states. During college, a classmate challenged her to join the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program.
Although she never saw many Black women with the "Eagle" rank on their shoulders at military bases, she was enticed by the idea and joined ROTC.
To her surprise, the Air Force became her future and empowered her to succeed. She credits her family, friends, and mentors for their support in her journey.
During Hurricane Katrina, Goff made it possible for the two largest evacuee shelters in San Antonio to be operational in less than 24 and 48 hours of notification.
Goff led a 40-person team and supervised 400 budget professionals in the financial planning and execution of a $73 billion multi-year budget.
She received an Air Force Achievement Medal for her leadership during this time. Goff has received several other awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, and the Humanitarian Service Medal. She is an inspiration for military and civilian personnel alike.
