In August 2022, Health Catalyst, Inc. announced the appointment of Dr. Melissa Welch as their new chief medical officer, joining the executive leadership team.
Dr. Welch is responsible for advancing data-informed healthcare improvements across all areas of business, supporting new and existing client growth.
With over 20 years of experience in the private sector, Dr. Welch brings a unique perspective to the position, having a background in public health epidemiology and primary care training as an internist.
As founder of Perspectives of Differences Diversity Training and Consultation for Health Professionals, she will contribute her experience as a diversity and cultural competence trainer to the position.
Health Catalyst provides data and analytics technology and services to healthcare organizations committed to data-informed decisions and measurable improvements in clinical, financial, and operational areas.
Dr. Welch has successfully navigated both private and public sectors, building efficient clinical teams, enhancing operations, and achieving remarkable financial results.
During her time at InnovAge, she expanded inclusive care for the elderly. She also led care management and value-based care initiatives at United Healthcare, Aetna, and Blue Shield of California.
She is an alumna of Harvard Medical School and champions women's heart disease awareness and first-generation immigrant education.
Dr. Welch was recognized as one of the "Top 25 Leaders in Diversity" in 2021, and will receive a career achievement award at the 2023 Women of Color STEM Conference in October.
