Jia Wang was a Special Recognition honoree at the 20th annual Women of Color in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Conference.
She joined AT&T Labs. in 2001. Her interests are computer networking, Big Data, mobile networks, and software-defined networks.
She is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
Jia earned her master’s and doctorate degrees in computer science from Cornell University in 1999 and 2001, respectively.
According to a recent Computer Science report, even with the projected growth of 15-20 percent by 2022, the vast majority of computer science jobs will be pursued and filled by men. There continues to be a notable absence of women in the field.
