The third day of the Women of Color STEM Conference began with Pamela McCauley, Ph.D., emcee of the conference's annual Breakfast with Leaders and Legends event.
After presenting the 2022 Special Recognition awards, Dr. McCauley, the 2019 Technologist of the year, led a conversation with female executives from industry, government, and academia.
The guests included 2022 Technologist of the Year, Dr. Valerie Sheares Ashby, president of the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC).
Dr. Ashby, a renowned polymer chemist with more than ten patents in a university research group, received her award at the annual WOC Gala, an event held simultaneously on the WOC STEM digital twin experience (DTX) platform and in Detroit.
Throughout the three-day event, professional seminars stressed the importance of retention, career progression, mentoring, continuous improvement, and networking. The Women of Color STEM Conference is produced by Career Communications Group (CCG), a leader in workforce diversity. In partnership with global employers, CCG helps support diverse organizations to promote equity.
