At a time when digital information is more critical than ever, Career Communications Group  launched a podcast called High-Tech Sunday. CCG's High-Tech Sunday showcases talent in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through the lens of spiritual philosophies.

For the ninth episode, please tune in to listen to Dr. Ruthie D. Lyle. She has earned over 176 issued patents, and is believed to have the most inventions of any Black woman in the world.

  • Dr. Lyle's current interest in the "startup scene” stems from two factors: a lack of diversity in technical startups and the trend towards innovation originating in startups rather than in larger established corporations. She is focused on understanding, partnering with and participating with startup communities. She successfully passed the Patent Bar and is a registered United States Patent and Trade Mark Office (USPTO) Patent Agent with credentials to prosecute patent applications before the USPTO.

More recently, she completed  a master's in technology commercialization from the University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business, which included an opportunity to go from idea to business model development to participation in pitch competitions.

Currently, Dr. Lyle is a lead research engineer with the USAA Chief Technology Office of Research. She explores emerging technologies and turns ideas into new and customized business. She celebrates the USAA mission and is strongly committed to the USAA’s core values  of service, loyalty, honesty, and integrity.

The first African American woman to earn a doctorate in electrical engineering from New York University's Tandon School of Engineering, Dr. Lyle's career began at IBM and spanned approximately 14 years in hardware and software design, intellectual property and technical project management.  She is, perhaps, the first African American to hold the title of IBM Master Inventor and lead multiple IBM Enterprise Patent Review Boards.

Ruthie is also a wife, a mother, and an avid supporter of education. She activates that by encouraging women and underrepresented minorities to pursue careers in STEM fields. She also enjoys recreational running.

High-Tech Sunday's weekly program is produced by and for CCG’s community of alumni and professionals in STEM fields, thought leaders, and aspiring students, to bring a concentrated discussion around technological advancements and achievements based on universal moral principles.
