Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) is committed to providing career advancement opportunities for individuals, which is why it partnered with the 28th Women of Color STEM Conference in Detroit, Michigan, from October 12-14.
At the event, several HII employees were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the company, including Sabrina Bailey of Mission Technologies, who received the Special Recognition Award.
Bailey is currently the vice president of operations for the integrated product support team at HII.
She began her career at HII as a systems engineer in the Newport News Shipbuilding Division and has held various pivotal roles, such as logistics engineer, program manager, program control manager, and division manager.
Bailey has been an integral part of HII for over 28 years and made history as the first African-American woman to be promoted to vice president in HII's Mission Technologies division.
She has actively supported vital business initiatives that strategically position the company for growth and innovation.
At the conference, several other HII employees were also recognized for their exceptional work.
These included Ebony Hedgepeth and Aracelis McAloon of Newport News Shipbuilding, Yasmine Coleman and Colleen Randle of Ingalls Shipbuilding, Porscha Moore and Christina Myers-Taylor of Mission Technologies, and Keisha Anderson of Newport News Shipbuilding.
Jaime Giles and Isabel Santiago-Lewis of Mission Technologies were named Technology All-Star winners.
Additionally, Chona Kelly of Newport News Shipbuilding was named to the "Top Women in Finance" list, and Cenise Waites of Newport News Shipbuilding and Ashley Nguyen of Ingalls Shipbuilding were recognized as Technology All-Stars.
Technology All-Star awards recognize accomplished women of color from mid-level to advanced stages of their careers who have demonstrated excellence in the workplace and in their communities.
Technology Rising Star awards recognize women who are helping to shape future technology. The Top Women in Finance Award recognizes leaders in the financial sector while promoting diversity and serving as a role model.
