The 2019 Career Achievement in Government Award went to Major Kelly Ann Giraud, deputy branch chief of robotics in the U.S. Army Force Development, Soldier, Maneuver and Robotics Division.
Major Giraud joined the United States Army in December 1999 and has served more than 20 years as a logistics specialist, signal intelligence analyst, and a combat engineer.
Her first assignment in March 2001 piqued her interest in technology and information systems (IS). Over the last two decades, Giraud has utilized her knowledge in IS to improve efficiency through capability development, and program management of small and large systems ranging in costs from one million to two billion dollars.
As the Deputy Branch Chief of Robotics within Headquarters in the Department of the Army, she ensures Robotics Autonomous Systems (RAS) progress seamlessly through the Army requirements, acquisition, programming, and budgeting processes that are fundamental to Army modernization.
Her incessant strive for excellence, and thirst for knowledge has made Major Giraud a well-rounded leader and exemplary Army Engineer Officer in Robotics & Artificial Intelligence at the Combat Capabilities Development Command.
