The Department of Defense has announced that the U.S. flag will be unfurled at the Pentagon on the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack. The ceremony will take place at 6:40 am EDT.
Following the flag unfurling, the secretary of defense and the chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff will speak at a ceremony honoring the lives lost.
Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Air Force Gen. CQ Brown, Jr., will speak at a ceremony honoring the 184 lives lost in the 2001 terrorist attack on the Pentagon. The event is being held at the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial.
