Tampa Electric Company announced Margarita Dominguez's promotion to the position of Vice President of Information Technology and Telecommunications Services over two decades ago. In addition, she was responsible for the company's facility services, real estate, and corporate purchasing functions.
Dominguez, the first female engineer hired by Tampa Electric in 1975, held various management positions within the company for over twenty years, including Director of Environmental Services for Energy Supply and Director of Marketing and Sales for Energy Services.
She received recognition for her trailblazing career achievements in 2000 as the Women of Color Technologist of the Year and made the cover of Career Communications Group's Hispanic Engineer & Information Technology magazine in 1999.
Dominguez hails from Havana, Cuba, and now resides in Tampa, Florida. She graduated from the University of South Florida in 1975 with an engineering degree and has had a long career with Tampa Electric Company and TECO Energy, now an EMERA company, where she became the Vice President of Technical and Support Services.
Dominguez has expertise in sales and was the Director of the Tampa Electric Bulk Power Department, which sold power to other utilities and municipal power systems. She also has years of experience in customer services, taking care of Tampa Electric's internal and external customers.
