Chrissa McFarlane is CEO of Patientory, a medical technology company that provides health management software to patients to better secure their data.
McFarlane founded Patientory in December 2015 and has helped create digital health companies that have provided services to Tumblr, Blue Apron, Casper, and Meetup. Recently, she was named one of the
"10 women MedTech leaders you should know" by Medical Design and OutSourcing.
In addition to serving as CEO of Patientory, McFarlane also serves as co-chair of the HIMSS18 Blockchain Workgroup and HIMSS Interoperability & Health Information Exchange Committee. She also speaks at industry conferences about new technologies and to inspire other business women and entrepreneurs.
"Healthcare organizations have done an amazing job digitizing and securing healthcare date, but there is more work to be done," McFarlane said at one event. "The technology exists to put an end to data breaches... Working together, we can make the idea that individual's health records can be purchased on the black market for as low as $30 a distant memory," she said.
According to her LinkedIn page, McFarlane's passion for healthcare began in high school, where she conducted microbiology research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and won top honors. Later at Cornell University, she worked with organizations such as the US Department of Agriculture. She earned an M.B.A. from Wake Forest University School of Business.
