While Super Bowl LIX on February 9, 2025, will focus on football, we remember one of the most impactful ads from 2020 that promoted women in aerospace, astronomy, physics, and technology.
The ad featured a collaboration between OLAY and Girls Who Code, along with five inspiring women: Busy Philipps, Lilly Singh, Nicole Stott, Taraji P. Henson (known for her role in Hidden Figures), and Katie Couric.
The campaign aimed to demonstrate that there is enough space for women in space-related careers.
Careers in the field include roles such as astronomers, aerospace engineers, physicists, technicians, and producers.
Notably, in June 1983, NASA astronaut Sally Ride became the first American woman in space when she launched aboard the space shuttle Challenger, following two Soviet cosmonauts who flew on a Soyuz mission in 1982.
It wasn't until October 18, 2019, that NASA astronauts Christina Koch and Jessica Meir made history with the first all-female spacewalk, during which they repaired a faulty battery component outside the International Space Station.
Koch also completed a nearly year-long space mission, marking another significant achievement for women in space.
To raise awareness about the need for more women and girls to pursue careers in space, OLAY, the skincare brand owned by Procter & Gamble, ran a memorable ad during the Super Bowl, the most-watched television event in the United States.
