LaTara Harris won a 2014 US President's Volunteer Service Award for donating more than 100 hours of time. This year, she was presented with the President's Award at the 2022 Women of Color STEM Conference in October.
The President's Award is a discretionary award given to a nominee who has gone above and beyond in service to her community.
Harris joined AT&T after 10 years with the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education, where she held senior roles, including director of partnerships and outreach.
She served on AT&T’s Global Equity & Inclusion Taskforce for External Affairs in 2021. She’s also on the board of the Digital Literacy Alliance in Pennsylvania.
She is a mayoral appointee on the District of Columbia’s Workforce Investment Council and is the chairman of the board of Crittenton Services of Greater Washington.
As founder and CEO of WeEmpowerWomen Enterprises, Harris spearheads an organization that aims to uplift, motivate, and empower women to reach their full potential.
National recognition includes the National Congress of Black Women–Sisters Empowering Sisters Award, the Washington Business Journal Minority Business Leader Award, and the Maryland Top 100 Women Award. She’s also a two-time U.S. President’s Volunteer Service Award winner.
