Alto Pharmacy has announced Alicia Boler Davis will become CEO on September 1. She was recruited by co-founders and co-CEOs Jamie Karraker and Matt Gamache-Asselin to scale the business by reinventing what a pharmacy can do.
According to the press release, the co-founders and co-CEOs will retain their seats on the board of directors. Both leaders will continue to be involved in the business operations and will partner with Alicia to support her leadership and the transition.
Alicia brings more than 25 years of technology and leadership experience from Amazon and General Motors to lead Alto as it scales and drives its next phase of growth.
“I have seen first-hand that lack of access to prescriptions and medical non-compliance can cause health to deteriorate, especially in elderly or immunocompromised people. Alto addresses this holistically and improves health outcomes for its customers through preventative care and easy access to quality treatments. Alto is in the business of improving health, not just fulfilling and delivering prescriptions. I am proud to join Matt and Jamie and lead Alto on its mission to improve the pharmacy experience for everyone,” said Alicia Boler Davis in a statement.
With Alicia joining Alto, the company says it is taking another step forward in improving the pharmacy experience by unlocking potential at every step of the prescription process.
“What we’ve tried to create at Alto is a company in healthcare that is both financially successful AND truly cares about the humans we serve and help every day. It takes a very unique combination of skills to do that, but Alicia has proven that’s who she is,” said Jamie Karraker co-founder and co-CEO of Alto Pharmacy.
Alicia began her career at General Motors, where she spent nearly 25 years in manufacturing, product development, customer experience, and product quality.
She most recently served as the senior vice president of global customer fulfillment at Amazon. In this role, she led the worldwide fulfillment team, which consists of hundreds of fulfillment centers around the world, global customer service, and global robotics.
Alicia has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Northwestern University, a Master’s in Engineering Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, an MBA from Indiana University, and an honorary doctorate of engineering from Rensselaer.
In 2018 Alicia was named one of The Most Powerful Female Engineers by Business Insider, Black Engineer of the Year by Career Communications Group, and in 2020 and 2021 Alicia was named one of Fortune’s Most Powerful Women.
She is the 2014 Women of Color Technologist of the Year.
