The Congressional App Challenge, created in 2013 by leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Internet Education Foundation, is a nationwide coding competition designed to inspire middle and high school students to pursue careers in technology.

The Office of U.S. Congressman Kweisi Mfume has announced that applications for the 2024 Congressional App Challenge for Maryland's 7th Congressional District are now open.
The Congressional App Challenge aims to encourage middle and high school students to learn to code and inspire them to pursue careers in computer science.
Students can participate individually or in teams of up to four and submit their original apps by October 24, 2024.
The competition is open to all students who meet the eligibility requirements, regardless of their coding experience.
The winning student(s) will have their app displayed on Capitol Hill and the U.S. House of Representatives Official Website for one year.
In addition, the winners will have their copyright registration application fees waived through the Artistic Recognition for Talented Students (ARTS) Act and will be invited to the House Of Code celebration.
National App Challenge Day celebrates the accomplishments of the Congressional App Challenge and highlights Congress' commitment to computer science education.
The Congressional App Challenge also emphasizes the importance of K-12 science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education across the nation.
The winner of the 2021 Challenge from Maryland's 7th Congressional District, Strokebase, was showcased at the Congressional App Challenge.
