The Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE), the world’s leading professional society for fire protection and fire safety engineering, announced its 2022 Annual Conference & Expo will be held in Detroit, Michigan, USA, from October 12-14.
The expo is a space where fire protection engineers and fire safety professionals come together to learn, to network, to engage, and to be inspired.
The event will feature over 60 presentations about fire dynamics, building design, resilience, sustainability, forensics, human behavior, fire safety/systems, fire service, research, human behavior, and evacuation modeling. Opening keynote soeaker, Adam K. Thiel, Fire Commissioner of the Philadelphia Fire Department, will lead a discussion on mitigating fire hazards and bridging the gap between fire protection engineers and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
In addition, A panel discussion on expectations and practices of delegated fire protection engineering, student poster presentations, a series of rapid-fire IGNITE sessions, and sessions specifically prepared for AHJs will also be featured.
"I’ve been attending the SFPE Annual Conference & Expo since I became a member in the 1990s, and I can say – without a doubt – that this event is the best place for fire protection engineers to learn about fire dynamics, fire research, industry innovation, and so much more,” stated Beth Tubbs, PE, FSFPE, President of SFPE and Conference Chair. “Not only is the conference a chance to be immersed in best-in-class learning, but attendees also have the opportunity to earn continuing education credits while discovering how peers from around the world deal with similar engineering challenges.”
SFPE will also host several two- and three-day pre-conference seminars on October 10-12. These seminars require an additional registration fee and are open to both conference attendees and those not attending. The topics included are introduction to fire dynamics simulator and smokeview, introduction to industrial fire protection, application of fire risk assessment, and much more.
