Melody Martinez is an accomplished chief of Section B's Prototypes and Flight Experiments Branch at the Air Force Research Laboratory, Space Vehicles Directorate.

Since 2009, Martinez has been a dedicated explorer of technological advancements who has demonstrated impressive abilities in managing nearly $1 billion in programs.

She has championed power beaming to the highest levels of Air Force and Space Force leadership, supported her colleagues in space acquisitions, and mentored the junior force.

Martinez has held various leadership positions in the Air Force Research Laboratory, specifically in the Integrated Experiments and Evaluation Division, Prototypes & Flight Experiments Branch, located at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico.

She has been involved in various spaceflight programs, including managing college/university-developed spacecraft programs for the University Nanosatellite Program.

Additionally, she worked on a spacecraft that independently carried nine space payloads, including three standalone spacecraft.

Martinez has mentored several junior engineers in advancing the capabilities of space-based power beaming, enabling personal excellence in many others in the organization.
