The triumphs of women of color in all STEM industries are a testament to the power of diversity and inclusion.
Like that of Dr. Marilyn Hill Harper, a trailblazing healthcare provider with 60 years of experience and mother of Hill Harper, the 2023 Women of Color gala emcee, their stories serve as lessons for future generations.
2023 Women of Color STEM awardees blend skills and resources from the civilian and military worlds to create staff and deploy projects that extend scientific knowledge and develop new paradigms for research and scientific knowledge and development.
This technologist provides resources and expertise that allow program managers to implement multiple space experiments.
She also mentors several junior engineers and program managers. Her incredible leadership and commitment to the United States Space Force and Air Force missions will impact research.
After thanking the Women of Color in STEM Selection Committee, Mrs. Melody Katherine Martinez, chief, Prototypes and Flight Experiments Branch, Section B Air Force Research Laboratory, said engineering has been her passion since childhood.
"I am grateful to have the opportunity to contribute to a commendable organization such as the Air Force Research Laboratory, where we support the U.S. Air Force and Space Force with game-changing space technologies," she said. "Coming from Washington, D.C.'s historic yet urban jungle, I'll use this award to inspire women to follow their passions when solving significant STEM technical challenges."
