This morning ConocoPhillips and Teach for America (TFA) Houston renewed their partnership that helps advance science, technology, engineering and mathematics opportunities to TFA teachers through the ConocoPhillips STEM Teacher Cohort.
“ConocoPhillips and TFA Houston have worked together to advance equity in education for nearly 20 years. Our long-time partnership aligns with ConocoPhillips’ commitment to fund programs that support Houston-area STEM teachers in their work in shaping the next generation of leaders,” said Ty Johnson, Senior Advisor at ConocoPhillips.
Through the cohort TFA Houston educators get the opportunity to collaborate with ConocoPhillips employees that are interested in serving as career day speakers, science fair judges, or classroom volunteers.
ConocoPhillips also provides funding to help recruit, select, train and support middle and high school STEM teachers in under-funded schools throughout Houston.
Yes Preparatory, Houston Independent School District, and Aldine ISD are a part of the current cohort.
“TFA Houston is grateful to ConocoPhillips for its commitment to providing STEM educational opportunities to our network of educators. It’s partnerships like this one that help us advance our mission of ensuring that one day all children will have access to an equitable education,” said executive director of TFA Houston, Tiffany Cuellar Needham.
