Maria Murillo, a manager in electrical management at the Chrysler Group, was recognized for excellence in managerial leadership at the 2012 Women of Color STEM Conference in Dallas.
The annual multi-cultural celebration honors the achievements of women, recognizing innovative professionals in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) for their career accomplishments “despite the traditional obstacles faced by women in these fields.”
Maria Murillo’s responsibility at Chrysler focused on starter motors, shields and fasteners for Pentastar and Hemi engines.
Her performance as a product release engineer for starter motors in the electrical energy management team earned the University of Detroit bachelor of electrical engineering degree holder distinction for timely and production-ready designs that met corporate and customer requirements.
Murillo joined Chrysler in 2003, after working as a co-op student at General Motors. Her portfolio also includes systemic/module and schematic content, quality and service, and prototype parts responsibilities. Off-the-clock, she is a Big Brother Big Sister program volunteer and a member of Chrysler’s Hispanic Employee Network, SWE recruiting team, and Running Group.
"The Women of Color Awards recognize some of the most promising and influential women business and community leaders in the U.S.," said Nancy A. Rae, then senior vice president, Human Resources, Chrysler Group LLC. “Chrysler Group is proud that our women employees continue to be recognized for their extraordinary technical achievements and leadership.”
Other Chrysler Group Award recipients recognized as Technology Rising Stars were:
Gagan Mann, Manager, C-Segment Sedan Interiors
Honglu Wang, Project Engineer, Virtual Analysis
Jie Jane Xia, System Engineer, ITM Product Design
Technology Rising Stars recipients are “young women who are helping to shape technology for the
future.”
“These women join a long list of accomplished women leaders at Chrysler Group who've received this
prestigious recognition and serve as terrific role models highlighting the exciting career opportunities for women in the automotive industry,” Rae added.
On January 21, 2014, Chrysler Group became a subsidiary of Fiat. Chrysler Group LLC remained a subsidiary until December 15, 2014, when it was renamed FCA US LLC, to reflect the Fiat-Chrysler merger.
