The 2020 Women of Color STEM Conference is scheduled for October 8-10.
An associate professor at the University of the District of Columbia, Dr. Saeed is honored for strong commitment to preserving superior engineering, scientific and technical education programs, and generating interest in STEM among women and minorities.
“Dr. Saeed brings professionalism and compassion for her students and their success and brings engaging points of view and energy to the academic community,” said Dr. Victor McCrary, Vice President for Research and Graduate Programs at the University of the District of Columbia.
Dr. Saeed is an active member of the professional education community and serves as director of the Division of Nursing, Allied Health, Life and Physical Sciences at the University of the District of Columbia Community College.
She has played a key role in mentoring and leading faculty toward writing self-study reports for the accreditation of the Associate of Applied Science in Mortuary Science programs from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and the American Board of Funeral Education Service.
She was also the co-principal investigator of a Nanotechnology Education Workforce grant awarded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to develop, along with the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, a series of new courses pertaining to nanotechnology.
Due to the introduction of the new nanotechnology course, many students are now interested in the STEM fields. She has also encouraged her faculty and staff to procure grants and recently received a grant from the League of Innovation to conduct career health fairs at the University of the District of Columbia Community College (UDC-CC).
