High school graduation and acceptance to college and university don't make the news in these troubled times.
The coronavirus pandemic has forced the nation's colleges to suspend in-person classes, labs, courses, information sessions, and tours, even as admissions are being processed.
This week, Southern University and A&M College-Baton Rouge in Louisiana sent congratulations to Mia.
"#WeAreSouthern I’m going to college!!," Mia wrote on Facebook. "Even though my senior year was cut short, I am proud to say I have been accepted to 34 schools and offered $700,000 in scholarships. In the fall I will be attending THE Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana."
In related news, DXC Technology and Southern University Baton Rouge have announced that it will hold its second annual cloud computing camp virtually this year amid coronavirus concerns.
The camp, to be held May 31-June 6, will still feature topics valuable to students seeking to build their computing skills, including cloud security, app development, block storage and more.
