Stacey Dixon, Ph.D. is a deputy director at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). She became NGA’s deputy director on July 1, 2019.
According to the NGA website, anyone who sails a U.S. ship, flies a U.S. aircraft, locates targets, responds to natural disasters, or even navigates with a cellphone relies on geo-spatial intelligence.
Dr. Dixon is the first Black female deputy director of the NGA, the nation’s top intelligence organization.
She joined NGA in November 2010 as the chief of Congressional and intergovernmental affairs within the Office of Corporate Communications. She helped lead change at the senior-most levels of the U.S. Intelligence Community.
Dr. Dixon is always willing to share her experiences and makes time to participate in events that promote diversity.
She is a mentor to minority women professionals, many with STEM backgrounds, who see her as a role model.
Dixon holds both a doctorate (2000) and master’s degree (1995) in mechanical engineering (biomechanics) from Georgia Institute of Technology, and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (1993) from Stanford University.
She was a chemical engineering (tissue engineering) postdoctoral fellow at the University of Minnesota (2000-2002).
Dr. Dixon is a nominee for a Special Recognition Award at the 2020 Women of Color STEM Conference.
