Alisha Madison and Joanee’ Johnson, employees of Northrop Grumman Corporation, were recognized at the 22nd Annual Women of Color STEM Conference in Detroit for their achievements in STEM fields.
Madison was awarded the College-level Promotion of Education award for her commitment to promoting scientific and technical education programs and enhancing opportunities for minorities in technology careers.
As the senior manager of business process analysis and proposal management for Northrop Grumman’s Aerospace Systems sector, she is actively involved in the community. Madison founded the Bella Network in 2016 to help underrepresented women connect with corporate, professional, and entrepreneurial women who can assist them in advancing their careers and businesses.
Madison holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of California at Irvine and a master’s degree in business from Howard University, Washington, D.C.
Johnson, the manager of mission assurance for Northrop Grumman Technology Services, received the Community Service award for her use of technology to improve access to jobs and educational opportunities and enhance understanding of technology's potential to offer useful services.
With over 27 years of technical experience, Johnson is a Six Sigma Green Belt in Capability Maturity Model Integration Level 5 software development and program and engineering management.
She is actively involved in Northrop Grumman employee resource groups supporting women, African-Americans, Hispanics, and Asian-Pacific Islander Americans, as well as the San Diego chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Girl Scouts of America, and the NSBE Summer Engineering Experience for Kids program.
Johnson has received numerous community service awards, including a Leadership and Community Involvement award from the San Diego chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and a Woman of Distinction award from Women Incorporated, San Diego.
Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Tennessee State University and a master’s degree in engineering management from National University.
