The Women of Color STEM Conference is a gathering of truly stellar individuals. The annual event hosts award ceremonies for women who create innovation and inspiration wherever they go.
Bev Chandran, who has worked in a variety of capacities to support business process re-engineering, sales, and growth in telecommunications, information technology, banking, and healthcare, recommends the conference because she feels it's "imperative" for women to associate with organizations that support their careers. "The STEM Conference should be on top of the list," she said.
At the 2019 event, Dr. Pamela McCauley, program director for the National Science Foundation (NSF) I-Corps at the University of Central Florida, received top honors as Technologist of the Year for her accomplishments in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education.
Other award categories recognized exceptional achievements in industry and women who have energized their companies and their communities alike.
The conference also offers a career fair. Attendees have the opportunity to meet and learn from executives representing Fortune 500 companies and agencies that are committed to the advancement of women in the workforce. College students in attendance meet award winners to learn the next steps in forging their own successful careers.
Since 1995, the conference has been the forum of choice for recognizing the significant contributions of women in STEM fields. The conference attracts exceptional talent within the nation’s scientific and technical workforce, and the event offers valuable career networking opportunities and prestigious award ceremonies.
"This an amazing event," wrote Dr. McCauley. "I recommend it for any woman in STEM seeking career empowering strategies, networking opportunities, and connections with powerful and inspirational women!"
Donna Bell, the 2018 Technologist of the Year, said the conference encourages women to succeed with the right tools.
