Two years ago, Dr. Hadiyah-Nicole Green won a Professional Achievement in Industry Award at the Women of Color STEM Conference.
Talking about her work in Women of Color magazine, Green said that after cancer devastated her aunt and uncle who raised her, she dedicated her life to ending the disease.
Green has three degrees in physics which she has used to create cancer treatment using lasers, nanoparticles, and nanotechnology. Her expertise lies at the intersection of nanotechnology, immunotherapy, and precision medicine.
"A satellite in outer space can see if a dime on the ground is face or face down, yet we can’t stop cancer in its tracks," Green said during her acceptance speech at the Women of Color Awards Gala. "I've developed nanoparticle-based technology that completely eliminates tumors in mice in fifteen days, after one single treatment, with no observed side effects. I was also awarded $1.1 million from the Department of Veteran Affairs for this work. My nonprofit is positioned to launch clinical trial trials in humans, within 12 months of reaching our first fundraising goal of $10 million to help us save some of the 8.8 million people dying annually."
This February, Green did an interview that went viral.
"Since my interview aired with Roland Martin, it has been viewed 14 million times in 4 days!" she wrote on her Facebook wall. "Thank you Alabama NewsCenter for featuring me and bringing awareness to the Ora Lee Smith Cancer Research Foundation! Check out the article here."
Green's Ora Lee Smith Cancer Research Foundation (www.OraLee.org), named in memory of her late aunt, aims to provide treatment that is accessible, affordable, and most importantly, effective.
Her discovery of a revolutionary technology uses lasers and nanotechnology to kill cancer in mice in 15 days with one treatment, without any observed side effects. For more information, visit WeAreOraLee.org.
