Yoko Kawai Parker, a systems engineering specialist at L3Harris Technologies, will receive a Special Recognition Award at the 2023 Women of Color STEM Conference.
As the head of the simulation and modeling working group, Yoko's expertise helps steer the company's technology development initiatives and roadmap.
Her responsibilities include cutting-edge physics model development for high-voltage, high-current pulse power systems and components.
Yoko is currently spearheading a $40 million-plus initiative to upgrade prompt X-ray simulators for the U.S. Department of Defense.
These simulators are designed to offer improved environmental sustainability, enhanced safety features, a reduced size, and an increased X-ray yield.
Yoko has a remarkable research portfolio that includes 70 papers on cluster chemical physics.
Her research primarily focuses on cluster ion reactions, specifically water clusters and their impact on atmospheric chemistry.
