One of the Special Recognition Honorees at the 23rd Annual Women of Color in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Awards Conference is a risk manager and information technology (IT) security engineer.
As of May 2018, Laura Jones assumed a new role as the Floor & Decor Outlets of America’s first-ever Senior Manager of Governance, Risk and Compliance, helping to support this now publicly traded company.
Her responsibilities include developing a Global IT Risk Management Program for more than 40,000 employees.
Laura is a risk strategist and a trailblazer in her industry.
Throughout her career, all the positions she has taken are “first-ever” roles for each organization.
As a management consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton, she supported client engagement from federal departments such as homeland security, the Treasury, and the Internal Revenue Service.
Laura was one of five professionals chosen out of 20,000 to serve as a consultant with a Corporate Sponsored Investment Initiative for the Pentagon and U.S. Army Information Technology Agency, the Army Warrior Transition Command, and Kimberly- Clark Corporation.
Under her leadership, Kimberly-Clark’s Global IT Risk Management Program received external, industry-level recognition and was honored as a CSO50 Award recipient.
The CSO50 Awards recognize organizations (and the people within them) for their security project or initiative that demonstrates outstanding business value and thought leadership.
