In 2016, Sophia Shiue, a business process manager, joined a growing list of FCA US LLC employees who have earned recognition at the Women of Color STEM Conference.
Sophia received honors for a patent she received for a virtual vehicle system that manages business processes using engineering part design represented virtually in a graphics bill of material application.
Sophia was also the technical lead for implementing a product configurator application that enabled Fiat and Chrysler to work on common global vehicle configurations. The graphics bill of materials system produced manufacturing and product illustrations that resulted in a 42% reduction in the graphic creation process.
She also undertook the creation of a Mopar service handbook that was awarded the J.D. Power ranking of second-best in the industry.
The Women of Color Conference honors the significant achievements of women in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
"FCA US is proud that our women continue to be recognized for their extraordinary technical achievements and leadership," said Marlin Page, head of diversity and Inclusion, FCA US LLC. "The Women of Color Awards celebrate some of the country's most promising and influential female business and community leaders. We are humbled to be named among such prestigious honorees."
Sophia received the Outstanding Technical Contribution Award, which recognizes a mid-career professional with significant technical accomplishments in an engineering or technology industry, or government agency. Award winners are accomplished professionals who have demonstrated excellence in the workplace and in their communities.
