Jaya Tripathi is a principal scientist for analytics at the MITRE Corporation. She won the 2017 Women of Color Award for Outstanding Technical Contribution.
Jaya is a recognized expert in prescription fraud analytics and helps contribute to MITRE's knowledge base in this line of work.
Jaya's research is being used by MITRE’s government sponsors to address the critical problem of identifying prescription drug fraud and abuse.
The outcomes of her research have been transitioned to the Indiana State Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
According to the data, opioid prescription rates in Indiana rose from 103 per 100 population in 2008 to a peak of 112 per 100 population in 2012. They have been dropping since 2012, with a rate of 84 prescriptions per 100 population in 2016.
Jaya has covered an array of research topics, from opioid abuse to cryptocurrency, which ultimately helps disrupt the flow of illegal drugs from reaching communities.
Her research has been well received at several conferences, and she has presented her findings at the invitations of the Pew Charitable Trust and the Mathematics Research Policy Institute.
Jaya has worked on projects that range from Big Data to customer retention forecasting for a large telecommunications company as well as other industries.
